This Is Me
Early childhood trainer
This is my first blog post, so I thought I would use it to introduce myself more fully! Our “about us” gives my credentials. Those are the facts in a nutshell that tell about me as an early childhood teacher, director and trainer. This will explain a little bit how I got here!
My family
The people in the picture above are my family. It’s almost every single one of them including my mother, my children, their spouses and children, my sister and her family. My heart.
Above are my beautiful grandchildren. I knew I loved children. Of course I loved my own children and the children I cared for. I love all children. And then I was given the gift of grandchildren. Oh my!!!
Let’s go back!
But let’s go back! Before I was a mom, I worked in panty hose and heels behind a desk every day. It was never me. I am what my family calls a “kid person”. My sister and I had four kids within a couple of years and she was working full time and going to school full time, so it was up to me to take care of all four of them. We didn’t have much money, so I also took in neighborhood children and soon it was an accidental, full fledged home daycare. My husband was very supportive, but he was gone all day, so I became a self-taught, expert! My years in an office had taught me how to be organized and establish routines and I never looked back.
As the years went by and my children got older, I didn’t want to work 6 am – 6:30 pm so I went into a daycare center and eventually earned my CDA, Director’s credentials and Trainer’s credentials in multiple states.
I will forever be grateful!
I worked in three different centers and they were each great in their own ways. The three centers were vastly different from each other. One was a very small, non-profit. One was a larger chain with mostly middle-class families. The third was a smaller chain with mostly lower income families. I will forever be grateful for those differences and experiences because I got to meet so many amazing people. Each center taught me completely different things and I got a much more rounded education than if I had worked at one place the entire time. I was at each place for several years and formed deep attachments.
I love that too!
Now, I’m retired from the classroom. I miss it so much, but life has its’ seasons and that season has passed for me. Now I work full time in the training business and I love that too.
My husband is a computer analyst by trade and he takes care of all of the technology that is over my head (which is a lot of it). I write the courses, take care of the social media and other marketing and all of the details involved in dealing with 50 states different rules and regulations and requirements. We have only been officially selling courses for about five months and are still working hard to get more states’ approvals and more courses online. My daughter was a daycare teacher and then assistant director herself for about ten years. She is now a huge help with ideas, brainstorming and proof reading. She also helps with videos, even loaning her children as models!
Last, but certainly not least, I love God and depend on Him for everything. My faith is a huge part of my life and has been since I was a little girl. My moral values are important to me and are a guiding force in all decision making. I don’t bring my beliefs into my courses, but I do bring my values into everything I do, including how I do business.
So that’s us!
So that’s us! I hope you feel like you know me a little bit better. As a small business, we try to pour ourselves into giving the kind of very special customer service that only a small business can give. When you call Bright Minds Training, I will answer personally, or call you back within 24 hours. If you email connie@testbrightmindstraining.com, I will email you back personally and quickly. I read each survey personally and am very attentive to every suggestion. Several courses have been done as direct results of your requests. Keep those ideas coming. I want to give you what you need to be the best for the children you serve.
I’ll leave you with two more pictures. This is my daughter and her husband at their wedding on the left and my son and his wife at theirs, on the right.
