Preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten

Preparing Preschoolers for Kindergarten

Description

If you are employed in a state that uses a registry to track professional development hours, you will be able to provide your registry ID (Stars, MOPID, Registry or other ECE ID#) after you have completed the quiz for the course. If you pass the quiz we will report your course completion to the state registry using the registry ID that you provide.
Every child is unique, so we need to have a variety of possibilities on hand when considering how to prepare our preschoolers for kindergarten. This course is not a “one size fits all” checklist of things every child should know. We emphasize the importance of preparing children with self-help skills and social/emotional skills along with other things. Course length – 2.0 hours.
This course will help answer the following questions:
  • What are the important self-help skills to teach?
  • What social/emotional skills should I help the children with?
  • What are some areas of math to teach?
  • Where should I start with reading readiness?
  • How can I help with motor skills?
Participants who successfully complete this course will:
Understand the importance of teaching preschoolers self-help skills before they enter kindergarten.
Obtain the skills to help preschoolers learn necessary social/emotional skills they will need for kindergarten.
Possess the skills and knowledge to equip their preschoolers with language and math skills needed for kindergarten readiness.
